Receive Jesus’ Cleansing and Serve Others
Welcome to Day 305 of our journey with Jesus. Today, we think about how we will respond to Jesus. The main truth for today is this: Jesus calls us to receive the cleansing he gives and serve others as he has served us. Let’s begin.

Jesus in Action
John 13:1–35
Step 5 of 5
Decide how you will respond to Jesus.
We have watched Jesus serve, heard His command, and seen what His humility reveals; today the towel reaches our own response.

Begin where Peter had to begin: let Jesus serve you. Christian humility is not a project for proving how selfless you can become. It begins by receiving what you cannot provide for yourself.
Receive His Cleansing.
Jesus tells Peter that without His washing Peter has no share with Him. Do not rush past dependence in order to imitate the example.
Take the Lower Place.
Then follow the pattern. Look for ordinary acts of service that pride would prefer to avoid, especially when there is little recognition attached to them.
Love by His Measure.
Jesus does not say merely, “Be nice.” He says to love as He has loved. That standard moves beyond convenience toward self-giving concern for another person’s good.
Let Love Become Witness.
Jesus says such love will identify His disciples. Receive His cleansing, abandon the need to appear important, and let His servant-shaped love become visible in how you treat people.
Tomorrow, the same meal turns toward bread and cup as Jesus interprets the death now drawing near.
Consider this.
What response does Jesus require?
Take your next step
Receive what only Jesus can give, then love others with the servant-shaped pattern He has shown.
